I’ve been thinking about where to take ArteraQ next. One thing I’ve decided is to keep the desktop version free and open source, with offline use as an important feature. Art collections can contain a lot of private information, including purchase prices, invoices, ownership records, and insurance documents. Not everyone wants to put that information in the cloud, so I want users to keep their data on their own computers and stay in control of it.
Another idea I’m exploring is a plugin system. I’m just one developer, and I can’t build every feature that different artists, galleries, and collectors might need. With plugins, other developers could add their own tools, reports, import features, or special workflows. I’m also considering optional cloud sync for people who want to access their collections from different computers. There’s still a lot to figure out, especially around security and data sync, but the goal is to keep ArteraQ free, open source, and flexible.
