June was a pretty big month for ArteraQ.
After a lot of conversations and customer discovery, I made a difficult decision to move away from building primarily for individual collectors and focus more on galleries, art advisors, and collection managers.
Once I made that decision, quite a few things needed to change.
I replaced the original dashboard with a more inventory-focused home screen, improved inventory and consignment reporting, and rebuilt onboarding to make it much faster to get started.
I also changed the pricing experience. New users now get 14 days with everything unlocked, no credit card required. After that, they can stay on the free plan with up to 50 artworks or upgrade if they need more.
Monthly and yearly billing through Stripe is finally done too, along with a long list of UI fixes and dark/light mode improvements.
A lot changed in just a few weeks, but ArteraQ feels much more focused now.
The hardest part of building this so far hasn’t really been writing the software. It’s figuring out exactly who I should be building it for.
